DRIVEWAY CLEANING · SAN CLEMENTE, CA
Driveway Cleaning in San Clemente, CA
Your driveway is usually the largest flat surface a visitor sees before reaching the front door, and in San Clemente it collects a mix most inland driveways never deal with: drip spots from cars, orange rings from iron-rich irrigation water, and a gray film of salty dust carried up from the coast.
We clean concrete, stamped concrete, and paver driveways so the whole surface reads as one even color again, from the garage door all the way down to the curb.
WHAT ENDS UP ON A SAN CLEMENTE DRIVEWAY
Every stain has a different cause
Treating a driveway as one generic cleaning job is why so many DIY attempts leave it blotchy. Motor oil soaks into the pores of concrete and needs a degreaser to draw it back out before any rinse. Rust-colored rings near sprinkler heads come from iron in the irrigation water, so they call for a rust-specific treatment rather than more pressure.
Black marks near the garage are rubber compounds transferred from hot tires, and they bond more stubbornly than ordinary dirt. On hillside lots and canyon-edge cul-de-sacs, runoff from planters also carries soil across the concrete every time the irrigation runs, leaving brown fan-shaped tracks that slowly darken. Identifying which of these you have is the first thing we do on site, because it decides the order of treatment.
Why does my driveway look striped after someone pressure washed it?
Those light and dark bands, often called zebra striping, appear when a single narrow wand is swept back and forth by hand and some passes get more dwell time than others. We use a rotary surface cleaner on flat concrete, which spins two jets under a hood at a fixed height, so every square foot gets the same treatment and the slab dries to one even tone.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
A full driveway clean, edge to edge
A driveway visit covers more than the open slab. The edges, expansion joints, and the strip where the driveway meets the street usually hold the most buildup, so they get attention first.
✓ Degreaser pre-treatment on oil and transmission fluid drips
✓ Rust treatment on irrigation stains and around metal planters
✓ Rotary surface cleaning for an even, stripe-free finish
✓ Detail work on expansion joints, edges, and the curb apron
✓ Weeds and moss flushed out of cracks and control joints
✓ A final rinse that sends loose debris away from the garage and front walk
Can old oil stains come out completely?
Fresh drips usually lift fully. Spots that have sat for years can fade dramatically but may leave a faint shadow, because the oil has migrated deep into the concrete. We tell you on site which spots we expect to clear and which are likely to lighten rather than vanish, so there are no surprises when the slab dries.
SURFACE MATTERS
Concrete, stamped concrete, and pavers
Plain broom-finished concrete is the most forgiving driveway surface and tolerates a strong, controlled clean. Stamped or colored concrete is different: it usually carries a decorative sealer, and too much heat or pressure can cloud or strip that coating, so we lower the setting and keep the nozzle moving.
Paver driveways, common in Talega and the newer parts of Forster Ranch, behave like hundreds of small surfaces with sand between them. Cleaning has to lift the grime on each paver without hollowing out the joints, and any joint sand that rinses loose should be topped up afterward so the pavers stay locked in place under the weight of a car.
Is it worth cleaning the driveway before sealing it?
Yes. A sealer locks in whatever is on the surface when it goes down, including oil shadows and rust. Cleaning first and letting the slab dry completely, which can take a full day or more during marine layer weather, gives any sealer you choose a clean surface to bond to.
OUR PROCESS
How a driveway visit runs
Most driveways follow the same five steps, with the time spent on each depending on how many stains need pre-treatment.
✓ Walkthrough: we point out each stain type and agree on a firm price before starting
✓ Prep: cars moved, doormats lifted, and nearby plants pre-wet
✓ Spot treatment: oil, rust, and tire marks treated first and given time to work
✓ Surface clean: rotary cleaner across the slab, then hand detailing on the edges
✓ Rinse and review: grime flushed off the slab, then a walk of the finished surface together
How long should I keep cars off the driveway afterward?
Usually just until the surface looks dry, which is often an hour or two on a sunny afternoon and longer on a gray morning. Parking on damp concrete will not harm it, but tires can track fresh dirt onto a surface that is still wet.
CURB APPEAL
Why a clean driveway pays off
Buyers and guests judge a home in the first few seconds from the street, and a stained driveway makes a well-kept house look neglected. Homeowners getting ready to sell often pair a driveway clean with our pre-listing window cleaning, and HOA residents use it to clear a courtesy notice before it becomes a fine.
Combined visits also make sense with patio and paver cleaning or a full house wash, since the equipment is already set up and runoff from the walls lands on the driveway anyway.
Do you need water from my house?
We typically connect to an outdoor spigot. If yours is hard to reach, shared with a neighbor, or you will not be home during the visit, mention it when booking so we can plan access ahead of time.

BEFORE YOU TRY IT YOURSELF
DIY driveway cleaning mistakes to avoid
The most common mistake is reaching for the narrowest red or zero-degree tip to blast a stubborn spot. It removes the stain and the top of the concrete with it, leaving a rough, lighter patch that never matches the rest of the slab. The second is skipping pre-treatment and trying to wash oil out with water alone, which mostly spreads it.
Bleach is another trap. It can lighten organic staining but does nothing for oil or rust, it can discolor stamped concrete, and the runoff burns lawn edges on its way to the gutter. If a rental machine has already left your driveway patchy, a professional clean can usually even the surface back out.

QUESTIONS WE HEAR
Driveway Cleaning FAQ
How much does driveway cleaning cost?
Price depends on the size of the driveway, the surface type, and how many oil or rust spots need pre-treatment. We quote a firm number on site before any work starts, and the quote is free.
Will pressure washing damage my concrete?
Not at the settings we use. Damage usually comes from holding a narrow tip too close for too long, which can wear away the smooth top layer of the concrete and expose the stone underneath.
Can you remove rust stains from sprinklers?
In most cases, yes. Irrigation rust responds to a dedicated rust remover applied before the wash. Very old stains may need a second application to fade fully.
Do you clean the sidewalk and front walk too?
Yes. The front walk, side yards, and the public sidewalk strip in front of your home can all be added to the same visit.
Is the cleaning solution safe for my lawn and pets?
We pre-wet and rinse the planting beds beside the driveway and use products chosen for residential use. Keep pets inside during the visit and let the surface dry before they walk on it.
How soon will the driveway get dirty again?
Sunny, open driveways stay clean the longest. Spots under trees, below a car that drips, or beside sprinklers come back first, so fixing a leak or adjusting a sprinkler head stretches the time between cleanings.
